Rhythm Band

Rhythm Band was originally written for two young friends who dreamed of playing in a rock band. So it needs to ‘rock loudly’ and be played with a high energy, strong, heavy percussive sound throughout. Work up a good tempo to get the feel of cut time to keep it from lagging. The secondo part is the bass and rhythm section. Its accented note creates the ‘rock’ sound on beat 2 so play it right on time with a very steady beat. The Primo player has to count carefully so the entries are exactly together. Special practise on the repeated eighth notes will keep them nimble, adding to the forward momentum.
